Coil Roofing Nailer 3/4-Inch 1-3/4- Porter-Cable Nails Coil Air 7/8-Inch Extreme-Duty
The Bostich I rented done well. It jammed once a coil and I had to put some of his nails with a hammer, This NAILER must have slipped past quality control at the Bostich. What a piece of doo. This unit is stuck Evey 10th Nails, and I was fifth with a hammer. What a shame for a product whoes company's reputation for its nail is very high. So that was when I walked the road to Hitachi. Hitachi NV45AB2 7/8-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Roofing Nailer
I am a part-time electrician and a full-time enthusiast-quality tool that does the job right the first time. I have read reviews, advice and tools to use friends or rent before you buy. And before buying Hitachi (what a fabulous roof machine), I rented and sold Bostich RN46-1.
The Bostich I rented done well. It jammed once a coil and I had to put some of his nails with a hammer, but all in all a good machine. Then it was the one I bought. This NAILER must have slipped past quality control at the Bostich. What a piece of doo. This unit is stuck Evey 10th Nails, and I was fifth with a hammer. It took what should have been a 20-hour job and turned it into a 40-hour job. What a shame for a product whoes company's reputation for its nail is very high. So that was when I walked the road to Hitachi.
I have only seen and used another Hitachi in my travels, and it was a framing gun. I was impressed with his balance, weight and performance. It was this experiance a few years ago and the reviews here on Amazon, which led me to the coil roof nailer NV45AB2.
All I can say is AWESOME! Absolutely amazing (I am a child of the 80s)! I took the gun out of the box, gave it a few drops of oil and went to town on a roof repair. I spent five full rolls of nails and not one jam or do I need to set some nails manually. AWESOME! I can not say it enough. Had I gone that route to begin with, I would have saved 20 hours on my original work and hundreds Dallara. And the price! Amazon has the best price in town ($ 385 at Home Depot and $ 325 at Lowes).
Do yourself a favor and buy Hitachi. Do not let Bostich name and market saturation get the best out of you. If you want quality and life of your tools, go with Hitachi. AWESOME!

Factory-Reconditioned Porter-Cable RN175AR 7/8-Inch to 1 3/4 - Inch Coil Roofing Nailer
I had used a friend's Bostitch coil nail several times before. It was finally time to buy one of my own. I've always been a fan of Porter-Cable tools. The amazing price that Amazon at this refurb was too much to resist.
I Unboxed my nail gun to find it in almost new condition, a small wear mark. I was surprised to find it much smaller and lighter than the Bostitch I had used before. I had ordered a RN175AR but got RN175A. I have no idea about the difference between these two models.
Part 1
A few weeks later I was ready to put it on probation.
Location - Luling, Louisiana - 25 miles from New Orleans
I had a circa 1960, 11 square meters of roofs that had redecked with 1 / 2 plywood over 1 x 10 planks.
Under 30 years I architectural shingle beach manufacturer's specifications (driven nails should go through the decking) chose to use a 1 1 / 2 inch seam.
Compressor PSI set to 100 kg.
Six nails in the job one obvious question was clear. Some of the nails were not driven entirely - a couple of whacks with a hammer and everything was ship shape. Time to look for depth adjustment. While I had been given a safety briefing, but not an instruction manual - I was left to the wise from the depth adjustment. (Fairly obvious - like the operation of switching between single nail and nail more options.)
With depth adjustment set to maximum, I did another test. Same problem.
So I increased compressor pressure to 125 pounds - the same problem.
So 130 lbs (the maximum specified for the safe operation of the tool.) - Same problem.
For every 10 nails tried-1 or 2 to be massaged with a hammer. Time consuming, but certainly better than hand nailing.
In this work, a co-worker was with his stiff coil nailer. Outside of some minor differences - the Porter Cable and Ridgid nails appeared to be quite similar.
Did he have the same problem? Yes.
So I found that this particular usage exceeded the capacity of both of these nails.
It was part of the roof that contained all new wood. In this area, both arms worked flawlessly.
Part 2
Several weeks later a friend who has much more experience than the roofing, I asked to borrow the porter cable nailer coil. He had borrowed his Bostitch RN145 out and could not wait to return.
Informed about my experience - he was thinking of a possible solution. He needed to change the nipple on the back of the gun from 1 / 4 "to 3 / 8" to set up their equipment. It made sense that this may solve the problem.
Unfortunately not.
Similarly, he could nail without problems in all new wood and only found problems with nailing tempered started subdecking.
Conclusion
To put our experiences together, we have guessed that the Porter-Cable, because it is light and small is a good choice for new construction. But the extra weight and size Bostitch (larger piston with more mass) to about the same price (refurb), is the best choice for rennovation.

Bostitch RN46 3/4-Inch to 1-3/4-Inch Coil Roofing Nailer
I'm really surprised the first review of this gun. I had a friend buy one, it gave him problems, he exchanged the next day and his second weapon is flawless. I chalk it up to that there is a new product on the market and some of the original weapons production bugs.
Regarding my experience with it? I considered Hitachi Ultra-Light at the beginning. I had been waiting for Bostitch produce rumors "light" weapons also. Just before I went to Hitachi (which I kind of put off a while since I heard they just did'nt take a beating as their usual heavier guns did) came Bostitch finally out and I got it. After more than 20 years of ceiling, I managed to do something I have'nt done for ages. I surprised myself. I've actually sat out the shingles even faster than I normally do. I went through the coils so fast that I thought my help Was'nt give me what I needed. It is unbelievable, even for an experienced roofer, this is great just balanced so true. I had the model before this one (the RN45B-1) and still does. It's also a workhorse and bulletproof. As with any tool, keep it clean, and it will run forever.
I think this is the second lightest gun on the market (behind Hitachi) but I will give that extra pounds of weight for performance Anyday. It's fast and it stops me. It also makes it easy to place the nail in the right nailing area on the singles (some can be fast, but to be quick and place the nails where they belong differ a roofer). I had no problems with my other Bostitch, I just wanted the newest weapons in the market, and I'm glad I got it. I recommend it. In a race, I beat out four boxes with a 30-foot valley to wrestle with in 23 minutes and did'nt even realize it. It's that quick.
Despite its weight, it feels solid.
And a nice trick to define blanket, hold down and it shoots out nails like a machine gun. You drag the weapon around and felt the fire at regular intervals depending on how fast you pull a gun. In less than a second, I nail down a 6-7 linear foot line that guarantees my paper and let me get to the polishing action. Nail lockout feature saves shingles and see-thru tank battery is a must when you edit your broadband from one every few minutes or so.
I have used other weapons, and for me there is no excuse for poor performance. There is nothing more frustrating than having to stop 'hummin' just to handle a gun. When you make a living on the shingles, you must have the best. Like everything else in life, accessories to the right (in other words, only brand coil nails) and the proportion of treatment you have any problems. This gun takes skill and multiplies it.
This is for me is the best.
